Liu Yang

Liu Yang is an Assistant Vice President in the Real Estate Department, where he specializes in evaluating and executing investments in the Japanese market. His team is responsible for acquiring and managing assets across different sectors, including traditional office, residential, industrial, and hospitality. 

In his free time, Liu Yang enjoys spending time with his family and hanging out with friends. He is an avid futsal player and enjoys running to stay active.  

Why did you decide to join GIC?

I decided to join GIC because of its compelling reputation of being a highly respected and globally recognised investment management firm. I appreciated how the firm commits to investing responsibly and the approach they take with long term investing. I learned that GIC would provide me opportunities to work with great talents and allow me to gain exposure to a wide range of investment strategies and asset classes. What does your typical workday look like?

Every morning, I check my emails to make sure that I am on top of all matters and take note of any urgent cases that have arisen overnight. I also attend meetings with stakeholders and collaborate with my colleagues on ongoing projects or tasks.

What do you like most about working here?

I enjoy working alongside highly skilled colleagues who are professionals in their field as this is where I learn the most while on the job. I am also able to explore a diverse array of investment strategies and asset classes which helps to keep work interesting and challenging for me. I appreciate GIC’s commitment to responsible investing as this shows that the organization is forward-looking.

How would you describe the learning & development culture at GIC?

GIC offers a comprehensive onboarding program for new hires, which includes fundamental training to learn about the company’s investment philosophy, culture, and values.
