Why did you decide to join GIC?

After spending close to 10 years working in various local and foreign financial institutions, I was seeking a new challenge. During the interview sessions at GIC, the interviewers left a strong positive impression on me, and I gained a deeper understanding and appreciation for GIC’s mandate of safeguarding Singapore’s reserves. When the opportunity to join GIC arose, I eagerly accepted it. The work here allows me to contribute meaningfully to society at large, making a significant impact through my efforts.

What does your typical workday look like?

It is hard to define what a typical workday looks like since the demands of every day are different from the previous day. I could be providing advisory to internal stakeholders regarding our compliance requirements, keeping abreast of regulatory developments and assessing how they could practically impact GIC, giving training to new hires, meeting with external vendors, and the list goes on and on. This is what keeps the job interesting for me!

What do you like most about working here?

The opportunity to learn from some of the industry’s brightest and most talented individuals. Additionally, GIC fosters a culture of collaboration and teamwork within and across departments. The strong culture of respect and integrity, which are key tenets of GIC’s PRIME values, guides us to consistently do the right thing.

How would you describe the learning & development culture at GIC?

At GIC, there are abundant opportunities for both professional development and personal well-being. The support from my manager empowers me to take charge of my own career growth with confidence. This supportive environment ensures that I can continuously learn and develop.
