Muz

Muz holds the position of Vice President in the Technology Group, based in the London Office. In this role, he leads the regional technology team and oversees all operations and infrastructure related to technology. His main objective is to ensure optimal functioning of all systems within the Technology Group, resolving end user issues promptly to ensure uninterrupted deal execution by the investment groups. This involves managing various technology functions, such as end user devices, infrastructure, video conferencing systems, and vendor relationships. Muz collaborates closely with teams in the Singapore Office to ensure the delivery of high-quality services and solutions that align with the organization’s needs and stakeholder requirements. 

Outside of work, Muz engages in a diverse range of activities. He is enthusiastic about fitness and regularly attends the gym, participating in sports and other physical pursuits to stay active. Additionally, he enjoys watching movies and exploring new destinations and cultures through travel. 

Why did you decide to join GIC?

Initially, I had limited knowledge about the operations and culture of the organisation but I was excited about the prospect of working in a diverse environment. After conducting thorough research into GIC’s overall objectives and PRIME values, I developed a deeper understanding of the company’s mission and vision. This alignment between my personal values and those of the organisation gave me the confidence to join GIC. I am now proud to be a member of the GIC team and eagerly anticipate making meaningful contributions to the company’s ongoing success.

What does your typical workday look like?

My role as a technology professional is dynamic, and no two days are the same. A typical day involves overseeing my team and ensuring prompt resolution of end user issues. Additionally, I am responsible for maintaining the functionality of various office systems, including infrastructure and video conferencing. 
 
Apart from these core responsibilities, a huge portion of my time is dedicated to managing stakeholders and ensuring that their technology systems are efficient and tailored to their requirements. This entails close collaboration with investment groups and teams within the Technology Group across the organisation.  

Some days involve working with service providers and attending meetings related to office enhancements and expansions. These meetings may involve discussions on innovative technology solutions, system upgrades, or other initiatives aimed at enhancing our technology infrastructure and services. 

What do you like most about working here?

The aspect of my work at GIC that I find most enjoyable is the diverse nature of my role, which presents new challenges every day. This constant variety keeps me engaged and motivated. 
 
Furthermore, I value the collaborative environment at GIC, where individuals work together towards the organisation’s goals and vision. This fosters a sense of camaraderie and shared purpose that is both energizing and fulfilling. I have been impressed by the elevated level of professionalism, friendliness, and dedication demonstrated by everyone at GIC. Overall, my experience at GIC has been extremely positive. 

How would you describe the learning & development culture at GIC?

My learning and development journey at GIC can be best described as a combination of on-the-job learning and exposure to a diverse range of technologies. Given the nature of my role, it is crucial for me to stay updated with the latest technology trends and advancements, which present daily opportunities for learning and growth. 

Moreover, working with a diverse range of technologies has provided me with exposure to new tools and techniques that I may not have encountered otherwise. This exposure has broadened my skillset and allowed me to expand my knowledge in various areas. 

In addition to the valuable on-the-job learning and development opportunities, GIC also offers exposure to secondments, shadowing, and knowledge sharing through mentorship.
