She also enjoys traveling and bringing back recipes to try at home, reading biographies, and playing tennis. Lia believes that having a healthy work-life balance is essential to maintaining a positive and productive mindset, and she enjoys pursuing her hobbies and interests outside of work.

Why did you decide to join GIC?

Having lived in Singapore for some twenty years, I knew of GIC as a renowned company with a well-defined role and a commitment to excellence in people and processes.  When I came across the job advertisement that matched my skillset and interests, I was thrilled. However, my experience at GIC has exceeded expectations. The sense of community that exists at GIC is deeper than I had anticipated. It is not just a matter of words, but the way GIC operates globally, in a collegial manner, every day. I feel fortunate to be a part of this community that works together and offers opportunities for growth and development.

What does your typical workday look like?

My mornings are typically dedicated to working on core tasks such as corporate procurement, invoicing, and payment processing. As part of my routine, I visit the front-of-house and hospitality teams to ensure they are meeting their objectives and address any matters that require my attention. I also meet with colleagues to gather feedback on the workplace environment and consider their suggestions when making changes. I believe that maintaining open communication and collaboration with colleagues is essential to ensuring a productive and positive work environment.

What do you like most about working here?

One of the aspects of my job most fulfilling is working on projects that strengthen our culture and build a sense of community within the London office, as well as fostering connectivity with people in other GIC offices. One such project that I oversee is “Free Lunch Wednesday,” where we provide lunch to all GIC employees on the last Wednesday of each month. This initiative brings people together, allowing them to connect, build new relationships, and share ideas informally. I believe that fostering a sense of community and promoting collaboration is essential to achieving our goals as a team and as an organization.

How would you describe the learning & development culture at GIC?

I have been truly fortunate to have an excellent supervisor who has been encouraging in developing my skills and supporting my growth as well as helping me to assimilate into my role at GIC.
