Her responsibilities include conducting due diligence calls, running different scenarios through financial models, and compiling analysis into comprehensive presentations. Lulu’s expertise and collaborative approach contribute to the success of each deal.

Outside of work, Lulu values spending time with her family, friends, and her dog. She enjoys exploring new places and has a keen interest in trying new sports and activities, especially water sports and visits to theme parks.

Why did you decide to join GIC?

I have always regarded GIC as a well-esteemed fund, drawn by its global platform, breadth, people, and culture. It felt like a place where I could truly add value. Two years on, I could say that GIC is an excellent platform for graduates to learn and gain exposure to a wide range of asset classes. The knowledgeable professionals that work here are always keen to mentor and nurture younger talent.

What does your typical workday look like?

My typical workday varies depending on the number of deals I’m involved in and their stages of progress. I often find myself in meetings and calls with counterparties and industry experts, analysing data through Excel models, and preparing detailed memos or presentations.

Throughout the day, I work closely with my team, engaging in thoughtful discussions, sharing ideas, and providing mutual guidance. This collaborative approach significantly enhances our efficiency as a team.

What do you like most about working here?

I appreciate the variety of work and the diverse individuals I interact with daily. Each day presents an opportunity to learn something new, whether it’s exploring a different sector, collaborating with new colleagues, or partnering with external stakeholders. This continual exposure enriches my experience and broadens my perspective.

How would you describe the learning & development culture at GIC?

Having joined the GPP programme immediately after university, I can confidently say that GIC has been instrumental in shaping my understanding of both my role and the broader industry. The nine-months rotational programme provided invaluable insights, not only within my own department, but also across key functions in the organisation and how they all function together. This holistic exposure deepened my understanding of both the company and the wider investment landscape.

In my time here thus far, I managed to gain a wealth of experience in a short period, learning from experienced individuals across different teams at GIC, as well as from seasoned counterparties in the field. This collaborative and knowledgeable environment has fostered my professional development, equipping me with a diverse skill set and a well-rounded perspective for my career ahead.

What skills or knowledge have you developed while working at GIC?

In my two years at GIC, I have developed both my technical and soft skills. The comprehensive training and hands-on nature of my role has provided me with a solid foundation as an analyst, enabling me to evaluate financials quantitatively while honing my qualitative skills through clear and concise writing of insights and assessments after weeks of due diligence. Additionally, interacting with colleagues from diverse backgrounds and cultures has enhanced my ability to adapt and communicate effectively in various situations.

What are some highlights in your career thus far?

I have had the privilege of working on several very interesting deals in essential sectors such as renewables and transmission, allowing me to contribute to meaningful projects that promote sustainability. Beyond deal work, a few colleagues and I organised a global retreat for my team, strengthening the synergy amongst the different offices and our work relationships. I have also actively participated in volunteer opportunities promoted by GIC, which have been extremely rewarding and further enriching to my experience.
