Prathima is a Senior Engineer in GIC’s Technology Group, specialising in database technology on GIC’s end-to-end cloud platforms. She enjoys working closely with her team, exploring innovative ideas, and taking on new challenges.
Outside of work, Prathima enjoys spending time with her family and preparing their favourite dishes. Working remotely has benefited not only her, but her family too.
Why did you decide to join GIC?
I wanted a career that allows me to work on innovative technology projects. When I came across this opportunity at GIC, I did not know too much about GIC. I decided to go for the interviews and find out for myself. To my surprise, GIC has a very friendly and supportive culture. Through all the interview rounds, the people I met were friendly and understanding. So, I decided to join GIC.
What does your typical workday look like?
My responsibilities include database creation, migration, and upgrading to the latest versions, as well as annual account reviews for auditing. I am also responsible for maintaining our database, ensuring end-to-end compliance with GIC standards, and working with the apps team to launch new applications.
What do you like most about working here?
I really appreciate GIC’s hybrid work model, which is based on the principles of empowerment and flexibility, responsibility, and responsiveness. Currently, we have the flexibility to work 3 days in the office and 2 days from home most weeks. The hybrid work model allows me to be even more productive because I can choose the type of work that is best done in the office with my colleagues, and the type of deep work that is best done at home. I am also grateful to be able to eat with my family, supervise my children’s homework, and help them with their studies when I am working from home.
How would you describe the learning & development culture at GIC?
GIC gives you the opportunity to learn new things on the job, which I find extremely rewarding.
