Aditya

Senior Vice President

Finance Department

Aditya

Aditya is a Senior Vice President working in the Finance Business Partner team within the Finance Department at GIC. His role involves assisting the Investment Asset Departments with planning long-term strategy roadmaps, executing annual cost management plans to enable delivery of GIC’s target operating margin, and ensuring strong governance of corporate policies and internal controls. Currently, his focus is on the publicly traded asset class departments.

Outside of work, Aditya enjoys reading and spending time with his family. He has a young son who loves the outdoors and double-decker buses, so you can often find them traveling back and forth on bus routes with no planned destination. He also has a rather ambitious workout plan, although he needs a little more discipline to execute it consistently.

Why did you decide to join GIC?

Having worked in Commercial Finance in a Consumer Goods Multinational Corporation for a number of years, I wanted to (a) set myself a personal growth challenge to learn deeply about a new industry, (b) contribute to the higher purpose of nation building, and (c) make positive contributions from Day 1 in my areas of specialisation: Commercial Finance and Business Partnering.

Upon seeing the open job posting at GIC, a company that I have always regarded very highly, I noted that it was a very good fit with my objectives and applied immediately.

What does your typical workday look like?

My workday starts with catching-up on financial news during transit. Once in the office, with a mandatory cup of coffee in hand, it is a mix of business meetings, project progress meetings, 1:1 connects with team members, and regular stream of financial report reviews. The idea that finance work is mostly done at your personal desk is a misconception!

As much as possible, I try to keep a chunk of quiet time available to work on the most important business priorities and to think beyond the day-to-day activities.

What do you like most about working here?

The work culture is positive and progressively modern, with sufficient space to air individual opinion. There is significant focus on employee talent development, via increasing assignment complexity and international mobility, which works well for career-minded individuals.

How would you describe the learning & development culture at GIC?

There is a high focus on constant learning & development. GIC School conducts well-developed in-house trainings that range from technical knowledge building to career development sessions to personal productivity improvement programmes. This is augmented by training budget support to attend job-relevant external trainings and study programmes.

What you should know before joining GIC

GIC shoulders an important responsibility towards Singapore. Consequently, we have high expectations for current and future potential employees. It is a great place to work long-term for ambitious individuals who are looking for a trifecta of meaningful work, performance-driven compensation and contributing to a higher purpose.
