Kah Sing is a Vice President in the Finance Department at GIC. He plays a pivotal role in supporting departments through a diverse range of financial activities, including budgeting, planning, cost management, and financial analysis.
After work, he cherishes spending quality time with my family, a shift from his previous routine of enjoying a quiet glass of wine, a change brought about by the joys and responsibilities of having a daughter.
Why did you decide to join GIC?
I was looking for a change in environment and chanced upon an opening at GIC. Coincidentally, I had a friend working there, when asked about the working environment and hearing about the positive aspects of the workplace, it motivated me to submit my application.
What does your typical workday look like?
Typically, I start my day with a cup of coffee to get me going for the day. I will then make a list of tasks for the day to understand what needs to be done – I enjoy the sense of satisfaction when they get crossed off. I will often be involved in discussions with my colleagues. After work, I dedicate time to spending time with my family.
What do you like most about working here?
The collaborative culture! The strong emphasis on teamwork and open communication helps make solving difficult issues much less painful and more efficient.
How would you describe the learning & development culture at GIC?
The opportunity to learn and grow is limitless. Given that GIC is such a large organisation, interacting with experienced seniors from different departments has allowed me to gain new skills, and the excellent mentoring culture here significantly supports my overall growth and development.
