Why did you decide to join GIC?
As a senior investment banker at JP Morgan, I had the pleasure of working with GIC as one of my clients. What stood out to me about the people at GIC was their impressive intellect combined with their humble nature.
When the chance to join GIC as a fund manager presented itself, I was eager to jump onboard. I was attracted to the extensive network and countless opportunities that GIC could offer, as well as its dedication to fostering an entrepreneurial spirit and providing employees with ample support for success.
What does your typical workday look like?
One of the best parts of my job is that no two workdays are the same! I get to engage with fascinating and brilliant individuals from within my organisation and beyond, and I am constantly exploring a diverse range of businesses and opportunities.
But even with all this excitement, I make sure to prioritise some “me time” during the day. I take a few moments to recharge and reflect, so that I can come back to my work with a fresh perspective and renewed energy. This practice is especially valuable when it comes to making important and challenging investment decisions.
What do you like most about working here?
What I find most rewarding about working here is the opportunity to learn about a wide range of businesses and industries. The nature of my job allows me to delve deep into the inner workings of different organisations and understand what makes them successful. It is incredibly fascinating and enriching to gain insights into these diverse worlds.
What makes the experience even better is the amazing team of colleagues I get to work alongside. They share my curiosity and motivation, and we are constantly bouncing ideas off each other and collaborating to achieve our goals. It is an inspiring and supportive environment that encourages us to be our best selves and push the boundaries of what we can achieve.
How would you describe the learning & development culture at GIC?
When I first joined GIC, I did not have any prior experience in fund management. However, my expertise in investment banking proved to be a valuable asset when it came to identifying potential investment targets.
However, I knew that if I wanted to truly excel in my role, I needed to expand my knowledge and skills in this field. Thankfully, GIC is a company that truly values learning and development. There are plenty of on-the-job training opportunities available, and my managers and colleagues were always eager to share their experiences and insights.
In addition to these resources, GIC provides a wealth of learning materials that we can tap into. The amount you learn is only limited by your own drive and ambition. It is an incredible environment for growth and development, and I feel fortunate to be a part of it.
What you should know before joining GIC
At GIC, we believe that the world is your oyster, and we are here to help you maximise your potential and impact. We encourage our team members to pursue their ambitions, knowing that we will be right there beside them every step of the way.
